A refresher on finding perfect theatre costumes for war based productions

Major wars leave a huge impact on the society, and even influences the type of content provided through the movies, music and theater.  There are a large number of theatre productions that feature events of World War I or II in the narrative.  You are likely to find actors wearing ww1 British uniforms and similar items on stage, while watching such a play.  While the great wars, much like all major conflicts, are characterized by destruction, theatre productions based on these wars have been extremely creative.  They include heart-wrenching romances, action epics, dramas and even stories that build empathy for ‘the enemy’.

Like all theatre productions, costumes are a huge part of war related plays. However, creating exact replications of ww1 German uniforms is not always easy for theatre designers. These designers are s responsible for deciding what the theatre actors must wear, objects or props they shall engage with, and the kind of setting that has to be maintained in the play. However, even with their high capabilities, not all theatre designers are well versed with exact war costumes, and nor do they usually have enough time to design these items from scratch.  A good deal of expertise is  needed to make such period-specific  war uniform, such as cross stitching, , creasing braiding the sleeve, V in the foreparts, as well as wadding.  These theatre designers often get these costumes through companies specializing in Zulu war uniforms replications and more.
