Theatre costumes: The first line of communication for the viewers

Importance of right costumes in theatre productions cannot be stressed on enough. No matter whether you have just got interested into the theatre or are a theatre aficionado, while watching a play, the costumes worn by the actors are likely to be the very first thing that stand out to you.  Regardless of the fact that the actors or stage are wearing contemporary, themed outfits or US Civil war uniforms, their costumes would be a crucial aspect of the theatre performance and would even have the power to make or break the impact of the play.

In many ways, the theater costumes serve as the first line of communication to viewers.  The audience can gain a general insight about the characters through simply their costumes. Even if you have no clue about the plot, but find actors wearing ww1 French uniforms on the stage, you will immediately understand that the story is likely to be set in the Great War.  By observing characters in Boerwar uniforms or something similar, you can also try to imagine the type of personality they might be having, based on your own knowledge of soldiers.
